On leave from war in the Pacific

Rowland Blackith Hill, Elizabeth Hill, Robyn Benn, Isabella Benn (nee Hill), Herbert Blackith Hill

Believed to be taken when Rowland was on leave from the 35th Battalion, 3rd Division of the NZ Army. At this point he had already served with the battalion as a private in a mortar platoon in Fijji. In december 1942 he would return to active duty with his battalion, in New Caledonia, Vella Lavella, and Green Island operations.
